There was sheer beauty this morning with three inches of fresh wet snow blanketing the Nature Center. I feel like two pictures are in order to capture the morning's quiet peace. The scene around the open pond was especially nice with reflections of snow covered trees in the slate water. Lately, large flocks of robins have been eating on the burned prairie, but this morning only a few lingered on perches, observing the falling snow with a keen, if not impatient, eye. Surprisingly, the snow kept coming, and only a little melting started before sunset. Many voiced their disapproval at this turn of events, but to me it felt like winter's parting gift.
